I am currently taking a good break from work, study and everything else. The irony in life is that when you are at your busiest, you crave for a break and yet when you get to take a break while everyone else is busy working, you can’t wait to be busy again as you loathe the sense of emptiness.
What is essential in life is finding a purpose as this purpose is what keeps one going throughout his/her life. That leads me to wonder, what is everyone’s purpose in life? Of course, that purpose differs for every individual and may change with age. A typical student’s purpose in life may be satisfying his/her parents by passing the examinations with flying colours. An athlete’s purpose in life may be creating new personal best in every competition. A 9-5 white collar working adult’s purpose in life may be to stay on the job to feed his family. Perhaps, some people may not even have a purpose in life throughout their entire lifespan which could be why people dread their work.
Having said that, I too, have not found my purpose in life yet. As a fresh graduate, unlike many of my peers, I chose not to enter the rat race, searching for any jobs as long as it is a 5 day week with rewarding remuneration. After completing a arduous project that I am still not convinced is a job well-done, I decided to take a good long break to reflect upon my purpose in life. I do have dreams, but sometimes I wonder if my dreams are worth pursuing.
To be an entrepreneur.. do I have what it takes? Little knowledge in sales and marketing, I know nuts about finances and most importantly, I do not have a feasible business idea.Is this a dream that I really wanna fulfill or is it just a back-up plan that could make the most money in the fastest way other than following the mainstream, working my way slowly up the corporate world.
What is your purpose in life..?
